What’s New? – June 2011
The Maleny Wood Show
The Maleny Wood Show was a great event again this year. We had a great display of timber outdoor settings, coffee tables, beds, stools, bars, cutting boards (which we like to call Fab Slabs) and lots more. Most of our furniture was sold. The most popular items were
- A camphor laurel bed (which is off to Townsville)
- A blue gum dining table (off to Monto)
- A blue gum outdoor setting (Off to Brisbane)
- A camphor laurel outdoor setting (off to Brisbane)
New Timber Projects
We have just finished making a lemon scented gum, rustic style (but very modern design) dining table for Kirsten who gave it to her new husband on their wedding day. They plan to engrave the table over the years to remember significant events in their marriage. The table is now off to Abu Dhabi where Kirsten works.
We have just completed a beautiful blue gum dining table. The timber was milled on a property at Monto. We kiln dried the slabs and manufactured the single slab table to suit a long verandah. The owner of the table loved it so much she has now decided to get us to make an outdoor setting and coffee table to match. If there is enough timber left over there is talk of an entertainment unit as well.

- Another awesome blue gum benchtop in a trendy art studio / residence in inner city Brisbane
- A massive jarrah kitchen renovation in Burbank using jarrah flooring from the house before it was renovated. The floor nails had to be removed, the floorboards had to be glued together on marine ply, nail holes filled and then sprayed with 3 generous coats of marine grade satin poly. I gotta say – it looks fantastic
Cutting Boards
Our New Zealand distributors are finalising plans to start selling Fab Slabs cutting boards into New Zealand in the next few weeks.
