Slab timber furniture tables and cutting boards

Queensland Garden Expo: Amazing furniture from kiln dried timber

What’s New? – June 2013

After a very successful Maleny Wood Show we are working hard to finish orders and start making more amazing furniture for the Queensland Garden Expo on 5, 6, 7 July.

We had a number of pieces at the Maleny Show that could have been sold a number of times if we have more available. Not only was the furniture popular, our camphor laurel cutting boards went like hot cakes. Luckily my sister and children were visiting on the day and I was able to talk them into selling a few cutting boards whilst the crowds were there.
On our list to make for the next show is

  • A blue gum bar table with matching stools (this has already sold and we are now onto another)
  • The camphor compromise table we call it this after the design was the ‘compromise’ of a design that I had in my head and a design that my business partner Ricky had in mind.
  • A blue gum outdoor setting (hopefully two of these)
  • A camphor laurel bar and matching stools
  • Hardwood framed dartboards with real cork backing and a blackboard for keeping score. These always sell really well.
  • A camphor laurel queen sized bed
  • A dining table made from a blue gum slab and salvaged iron bark posts from the old Gympie showgrounds.
  • A blue gum coffee table with chess board inlay
  • A white vanity with solid ironbark top.
  • Factory seconds camphor laurel cutting boards be quick as these always sell out fast

If you are interested in getting advice, ideas or pricing on kitchen benchtops this is a great time to see us and have a chat. Not only can you see the variety of timbers available, you can also see display photos of benchtops and furniture we have made in the past.

If you can’t make it to the show, we will happily send you photos.

The thing we stress the most when buying anything crafted from solid or slab timber, be it kitchen bench tops, dining tables, any furniture or cutting boards is to only buy kiln dried timber. Air dried timber is not stable and can contain borers. Kiln dried timber is a stable product and will not contain borers. All our timber is kiln dried (each slab is tested with a moisture meter when taken out of the kiln) and comes with a replace or refund guarantee if it is not dry.
